Meet the Speakers

VALERIE BELTRAN

  • Valerie Beltrán is the Director of Outreach for the Zendo Project, an EMDR therapist, and a supervisor integrating psychedelics, technology, and spirituality in her private practice. Growing up between two countries and cultures, she excels at metaphorically walking between worlds and creating bridges where there was once separation. Valerie aims to guide individuals navigating the spaces between dreaming and waking, psychedelic and mundane, ancient and modern, Indigenous and Western.

    Her past roles include Chief of Staff for an eco-tech entrepreneur, Head of Operations for Consciousness Hacking, trauma trainer and consultant with WestEd, Academic Advisor at JFKU, and Associate Organizer for the Integral Theory Conference. She completed CIIS’s Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy & Research program in 2019 and has been a supervisor at Alchemy Therapy since 2020. Valerie's work continues to weave together her diverse experiences, providing a unique and holistic approach to healing and integration.

NICHOLAS SPIERS

  • Nicholas Spiers is a queer anthropologist and documentary filmmaker. He has a Master’s degree in visual anthropology from the University of Barcelona and is interested in the sensory experience of audiovisual mediums. He has lived for several years in Mexico doing fieldwork in the Sierra Mazateca, and is currently based in Portugal. He is Chacruna’s research coordinator, creating content incorporating different cultural perspectives and disciplines to approach challenging discussions in the psychedelic community. He is the lead author on Chacruna’s Indigenous Psilocybin Mushroom Practices: An Annotated Bibliography (Journal of Psychedelic Studies, in 2024). He also produces compelling videos and multimedia materials. With Bia Labate he co-directed the documentary web series The Peyote Files, and created the educational video Chacruna Debunks 6 Racist Myths from the Psychedelic Community. He has created an award-winning series about the psychoactive plant Salvia divinorum. He co-founded Agua de Rayo, a non-profit civil organization based in Mexico’s Sierra Mazateca, which is invested in visual ethnography and community projects and which also has an interest in Mazatec psychoactive plant use.

JESSICA BREEMEN, MSW, PSM, PATP

  • Jessica (she/her) is a seasoned practitioner with over 18 years of experience in coaching creative strategies and solutions to complex problems across various ecosystems, including legal, government, non-profit, public health, and technology sectors. She holds a Master of Social Work degree, a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice & Criminology, and certifications as a Scrum Master and psychedelic-assisted therapist.

    Her work focuses on social entrepreneurship, organizational health, criminal justice reform, and integrative drug-assisted care. Jessica joined DanceSafe during her MSW program and later served on the Board of Directors before transitioning to the Executive Team as Chief Growth & Impact Officer. In this role, she drives capacity building, organizational health, digital strategy, and sustainability initiatives, helping DanceSafe fulfill its mission.

DANIELLE NOVA

  • Danielle Nova is the Founder of Psychedelic Recovery and Executive Director of the San Francisco Psychedelic Society, specializing in addiction recovery, microdosing, and spiritual transformation. She has over six years of professional experience, providing comprehensive psychedelic education programs and guidance to over 15,000 individuals.

    Danielle leads a global addiction recovery support program, creating specialized training for facilitators and educating clinicians on the use of psychedelics for addiction recovery. She played a key role in Decriminalize Nature Oakland, contributing to the historic passage of the first resolution in the U.S. to decriminalize entheogenic plants and fungi.

    Featured in CBS News and the MAPS Psychedelic Science Conference, Danielle is a prominent figure in psychedelic advocacy. Her work continues to shape the future of addiction treatment and psychedelic education.

ROME SHADANLOO

  • Psychedelic Therapist and Founder Mycology Psychology

    Rome Shadanloo is a psychedelic therapist specializing in CPTSD and attachment injury. She studied holistic psychology and focused on psychoneuroimmunology, working to ease chronic pain rooted in the emotional life of the mind. She helped over 100 people integrate their micro and macro doses of psilocybin, 5-MeO-DMT, and MDMA.

    Rome's practice includes the various modalities of internal family systems, reparenting work, and quantum healing. She is a certified death doula. 

    Rome received a degree in holistic psychology from Lesley University and did extensive work in various roles at Proposition 36 rehab facilities that specifically serve the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated, including on-the-spot counselling for those in urgent crisis.

AMY REICHELT, Ph.D.

  • Dr. Amy Reichelt is a neuroscientist, neuropharmacologist, speaker, and author specializing in psychedelic drug development. With 15 years of expertise in translational medicine, she is passionate about developing psychedelics, "psychedelic-inspired" new chemical entities, and nutritional interventions for neurological and psychiatric conditions.

    Dr. Reichelt holds adjunct faculty appointments at the University of Adelaide and the University of Western Ontario. She has authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles in top-tier scientific journals and multiple popular science articles on neuroscience. Her media presence includes a TEDxSydney talk, appearances on ABC TV’s The Science of Drugs, and numerous radio and podcast interviews as an expert in psychedelics and nutritional neuroscience.

BIA LABATE, Ph.D.

  • Dr. Bia Labate (Beatriz Caiuby Labate) is an anthropologist, educator, author, speaker, and activist, committed to the protection of sacred plants while amplifying the voices of marginalized communities in the psychedelic science field. As a queer Brazilian anthropologist based in San Francisco, she has been profoundly influenced by her experiences with ayahuasca since 1996.

    Dr. Labate has a Ph.D. in social anthropology from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil. Her work focuses on plant medicines, drug policy, shamanism, ritual, religion, and social justice. She is the Executive Director of the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines and serves as a Public Education and Culture Specialist at the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS).

    Additionally, she is a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley and an advisor for the Veteran Mental Health Leadership Coalition. Dr. Labate is also a co-founder of the Interdisciplinary Group for Psychoactive Studies (NEIP) in Brazil and the editor of its site.

    She has authored, co-authored, and co-edited 28 books, three special-edition journals, and numerous peer-reviewed and online publications (http://www.bialabate.net).

JAHAN KHAMSEHZADEH, Ph.D.

  • Jahan Khamsehzadeh, Ph.D., completed his dissertation on psychedelics in the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco. His dissertation was turned into a book titled "The Psilocybin Connection: Psychedelics, the Transformation of Consciousness, and Evolution of the Planet—An Integral Approach." He holds a Masters in Consciousness and Transformative Studies from John F. Kennedy University and a Bachelors in Philosophy with minors in Physics and Psychology from the University of Arizona. Jahan has also completed major trainings, including the Hakomi somatic-psychotherapy program and the Mazatec mushroom tradition. He has worked as a facilitator for legal psilocybin mushroom ceremonies in Jamaica with Atman Retreats and is involved with the PsiloHealth integration team and the Zendo Project. Additionally, he leads a monthly group on developing a relationship with sacred mushrooms with the San Francisco Psychedelic Society. DR. OSIRIS GARCIA CERQUEDA

  • Dr. Osiris García Cerqueda is an Indigenous Mazatec historian and sociologist from Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca, Mexico. From a very young age, he has dedicated himself to studying the history of his community and practicing the ancestral ritual with psilocybin mushrooms, famously associated with Maria Sabina.

    In recent years, reciprocity and restorative justice have been the foundation of his work, conducting needs assessments in his community and developing activities to strengthen Mazatec bioculture. He is the author of the book Huautla tierra de magia, de hongos y hippies (2014) and the independent magazine Mirador Mazateco (2010–2015).

    Osiris seeks to raise awareness about the impact of the Global North on the Mazatec people in this new wave of the psychedelic renaissance. He is the Program Coordinator of Chacruna’s Indigenous Reciprocity Initiative of the Americas (IRI).

GRAHAM PECHENIC

  • Graham Pechenik is a registered patent attorney and the founder of Calyx Law, specializing in cannabis and psychedelics-related intellectual property, particularly in drug discovery and development. He holds a BS in Cognitive Neuroscience and Biochemistry from UC San Diego, inspired by his early psychedelic experiences, and a JD from New York University, focusing on bioethics and cognitive liberty.

    After a decade at large law firms defending and challenging patents for Fortune 500 companies in various industries, he founded Calyx Law in 2016 to assist cannabis and psychedelics ventures with their IP strategies. Graham is also the editor-at-large of Psychedelic Alpha, where he writes about psychedelics IP and maintains a legalization and decriminalization tracker.

    He is the founding steward of the IP Committee of the Psychedelic Bar Association, serves on its Board of Directors, and is a member of Chacruna’s Council for the Protection of Sacred Plants. Raised in Oakland, CA, Graham currently resides in San Francisco.

TRACEY TEE

  • Tracey Tee is the creator and steward of Moms OnMushrooms, a community for mothers focused on healing through microdosing plant medicine. She uses a sacred facilitator approach in her M.O.M. circles, connecting women to the Sacred Feminine and Sacred Mother Earth through prayer, herbology, grounding, nature, and plant medicine.

    Tracey's journey with reproductive health issues, infertility, a hysterectomy, and early menopause gives her deep compassion for mothers. Her extensive knowledge of women's health allows her to support moms dealing with health, birth, and womb trauma. She also offers practical tips for busy moms to feel better in their bodies and embrace natural healing.

    Tracey lives in Denver, Colorado, with her husband of 20 years, their two dogs, and their 12-year-old miracle daughter.

MANESH GIRN

  • Manesh is a postdoctoral neuroscientist at UCSF, investigating the brain mechanisms behind psychedelic experiences and their impact on mental health.

    Collaborating with Dr. Robin Carhart-Harris and other international leaders, Manesh brings significant expertise to the field.

    Holding a PhD in Neuroscience from McGill University, their dissertation focused on the 'default-mode network' and complex cognitive abilities. With over two dozen peer-reviewed publications, Manesh's work spans psychedelics, meditation, and mental health.

    As the Chief Research Officer at EntheoTech Bioscience, Manesh promotes scientific literacy through The Psychedelic Scientist on Instagram and YouTube. Their mission is to unlock the potential of psychedelics for healing and personal transformation.

DR. STEFANIE KLEINE

  • Dr. Stefanie holds both a Master’s and PhD in Psychology. Initially trained as a psychotherapist, she seamlessly transitioned to coaching early in her career. For over 21 years, she has served as a Self-Mastery Coach for Fortune 500 companies, C-suite executives, professional athletes, entrepreneurs, and top performers worldwide. With a background in film and television and as a member of MENSA, Dr. Stefanie is also a sought-after public speaker for numerous organizations and non-profits.

    In 2017, Dr. Stefanie was introduced to plant medicine, leading to profound personal breakthroughs and healing. Shortly thereafter, she trained with two respected medicine women and a Peruvian shaman. In 2018, she and her partner founded The Sacred House of Eden in the stunning state of Colorado. Eden has since welcomed individuals from around the globe to its award-winning, all-inclusive plant medicine retreats.

    Trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dr. Stefanie integrates IFS-informed coaching, hypnotherapy, mindfulness sessions, and plant medicine into her work with clients and Eden guests. Together with her team, she has facilitated over 1,600 individual ceremonies and integrations. The transformative work conducted at Eden is the most humbling, powerful, and meaningful work of her life.

SHARON DOPAK

  • Sharon, a registered nurse since 2008, initially fully embraced the 'War on Drugs' ideology. Her career in the ER and dedication to advanced certifications marked her commitment to patient care.

    The 2020 COVID lockdown left her without her usual outlets for decompression, leading a trusted friend to suggest psychedelics. Despite her DARE program beliefs, she tried "magic" mushrooms, which profoundly changed her life.

    Driven to understand these effects and dismantle the stigma, she now helps others recognize the healing potential of psychedelics. To avoid legal repercussions, she enrolled in an FDA-approved clinical trial using synthetic psilocybin.

GEORGE MONTY

  • George Monty is the Founder of TrueLife Media, where he crafts and shares compelling content that explores community building, the inevitability of uncertainty, human suffering, the transformative power of psychedelics, curiosity, and entrepreneurship in today’s world. With a background in experimental psychology and a passion for storytelling, George aims to inspire and empower his audience to lead a life full of meaning and purpose.

    He has produced over 650 podcast episodes, garnered more than 40,000 subscribers, and published two books, one of which is an international bestseller. George has built a strong and loyal community through his work. He consistently strives to create opportunities, build meaningful relationships, and have a positive impact on the community.

STEVE ALLGOOD

  • At age 28, and just days before his wedding, Steve Allgood was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. With an estimated 9 to 18 months to live, Steve was advised by doctors to "go home, eat burgers, drink beer, and make memories." Defying the odds, Steve is now 35 and a proud husband, father of two children and has dedicated his life to patient advocacy, sharing his remarkable story of hope and resilience.

RACHEL TRELOAR

  • Rachel Treloar, founder of Anam Cara House and The Psychedelic Philosophers Society, is a loving voice in the exploration of psychedelics for healing, play, and societal growth. Anam Cara House, named after the Gaelic for "soul friend," fosters a safe and compassionate space for individuals to engage in psilocybin-assisted therapy and self-study. She established this center as a testament to the power of connection and community in the psilocybin experience.

    Driven by a deep fascination with the potential of psilocybin, Rachel is also the founder of The Psychedelic Philosophers Society for the Advancement of Psilocybin. This organization’s mission is to gather the vast kaleidoscope of experienced psychonauts together to question our current understanding of psilocybin, recognize our blind spots, and co-create new and novel ideas with respected psychonauts. Her commitment extends beyond psychedelics applications.

    Rachel also serves as a Founding Board Member of Inner Child Circle, a non-profit dedicated to fostering inner healing and reclaiming the wholeness of the self. Rachel's passion lies in creating a future where psilocybin is understood, respected, and utilized for individual and collective transformation. She brings a wealth of experience and a collaborative spirit to the psychedelics conversation, eager to engage in meaningful dialogue about the exploration of this potent medicine.

KEITH GILMORE

  • Keith Gilmore is a writer, speaker, and coach. He writes essays and gives talks on matters of psychospiritual development and cultural amelioration. Keith is the founder of Texture Coaching & Integration, a coaching platform in service to individuation and psychedelic integration. He serves as the President of Portland Psychedelic Society, the leading psychedelic 501(c)(3) non-profit in the Pacific Northwest.

SARAH HONEYCUTT 

  • Sarah's career in the social sciences of geography and economics led to a path that embraced learning about other cultures and traditions. That coupled with their own transformative experiences inspired by altered-states of consciousness over the past 27 years led Sarah to advocate for plant medicine in Oregon, serving as an advisor on Plant Medicine Healing Alliance. She then  participated in the first cohort of the Oregon state-approved psilocybin training program InnerTrek. She has been working as a state-licensed psilocybin facilitator since June of 2023.  Sarah is a Public Member of the OPBA Strategic Planning subcommittee and works to grow conscious communities in the spiritual and tech spaces.  

LYUBOV YUSUFOVA

  • Lyubov Yusufova is an initiated yogi and Doctor of Psychology student at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), renowned for its pioneering integration of Eastern and Western philosophies. She completed her undergraduate studies at NYU and studied behavioral neuroscience at Columbia University. Her study of the human mind has been a remarkable synthesis of scientific inquiry and spiritual practice.

    While a neuroscience researcher at Columbia, a transpersonal state in Botswana acquainted Lyubov with a dimension of the mind transcending defined scientific variables. She was later initiated into an ashram for intensive contemplative practice where she conducted field research on the psychotherapeutic mechanisms of mystical states of consciousness, presented at Harvard Medical School and The Science of Consciousness 29th International Interdisciplinary Conference.

    Lyubov is dedicated to serving others through the interface of clinical psychology, consciousness, and comparative mystical experience, influencing modern mental health practices.

SUSAN GUNER

  • Susan Guner is a holistic psychotherapist with a mindfulness-based approach grounded in Transpersonal Psychology, focusing on trauma-informed, community-centric processes that offer a broader understanding of human potential and well-being.


Ben “Doc” Askins

BEN ASKINS

  • Ben “Doc” Askins (PA-C, MDiv) has an eclectic background with degrees in Outdoor Education, Intercultural Studies, Physician Assistant Studies, and Divinity. He has nearly two decades of experience practicing and teaching wilderness, tactical, and expeditionary medicine in the military. In civilian life, he is a Psychiatric Physician Assistant with an evidence-focused and integrative approach to mental health that includes extensive experience providing psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, medicine management, flow coaching, and spiritual direction. He is certified with the Multidisciplinary Association on Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Doc is a member of the Wilderness Medical Society, a National Outdoor Leadership school alum, a veteran of the Global War on Terrorism, and has completed postgraduate training in Neuropsychiatry and Genomics. He is the owner of Advanced Practice Providers, a mental health optimization office in Louisville, KY and the author of Anti-Hero’s Journey: The Zero With a Thousand Faces, a warped war memoir on the way to enlightenment, as well as the host of The Anti-Hero’s Journey podcast. He has a wife, four children, a dog, a farm, and ninety-nine problems, but thanatophobia ain’t one.

Clint Kyles

CLINT KYLES

  • Clint Kyles is the host of the host of The Psychedelic Christian Podcast, where he seeks to engage his fellow Christians on the topic of psychedelic substances & practices. 

    From his early life in the Southern Baptist tradition, to 16 years in the Reformed Presbyterian tradition where he served on the board of deacons and as a leader in Boy Scouts of America, to 10 years in the Episcopal Church where he has worked in youth ministry, serving at the Alter as a layperson, liaison to local homeless ministries, and currently serves on the Vestry of his local Episcopal Church, Clint has always been active in community & church life.

    Clint seeks to live his life as a authentic & compassionate Christian. As an advocate for the healthy & responsible use of psychedelics, he attempts to make his podcast a platform where his fellow Christians can share their thoughts & learn about psychedelics; and a platform for his fellow psychonauts to learn more about the rich & varied tapestry of the Christian tradition.

    Clint currently resides in rural southwest Arkansas with his wife of 25 years Sarah, and their children, where he continues his 20+ year career in radial tire manufacturing and operates a small local coffee roastery. 

DAVE HODGE

  • Dave Hodges is the visionary founder of the Church of Ambrosia and serves as the pastor for Zide Door, the Church of Entheogenic Plants in Oakland. Renowned for establishing San Jose's first medical cannabis club, Dave has been a pivotal figure in the psychedelic community, particularly known for his profound work with high-dose mushrooms to probe the origins of religion. Over the past two decades, Dave has vigorously defended sacred plants through numerous legal battles, driven by his deep belief in their spiritual significance. Via his explorations with mushrooms, with high doses up to 30 dried grams per session, he seeks deeper insights into religion and the very essence of reality.

CARLA ASPESBERGER

  • Carla Aspesberger, the embodiment of spiritual exploration and integration through a holistic approach stands as a luminary in the realm of well-being.
    Carla's journey as an integration specialist & Fascia Therapist is a mosaic of dedication and a ceaseless thirst for wisdom. She has crafted a multi-dimensional tapestry of expertise that spans continents and cultures as she learned from Eastern Vedic traditions all the way through Shamanic rituals, psychology and Biohacking breakthroughs.

LYNN WATKINS

  • Lynn Watkins served nearly 25 years in the U.S. Air Force, including roles as a JAG Officer and Military Trial Judge, before being medically retired in 2017 due to chronic pain and mental health challenges linked to a nerve injury sustained in 2003. This injury led to Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and other chronic pain conditions, and over the years she underwent various treatments, including ketamine infusions, with only temporary relief. In March 2023, a friend connected her with REMAP Therapeutics, where she began a transformative journey with psilocybin therapy. After a week-long session in Colorado, her chronic pain diminished significantly, her mobility improved, and her symptoms of PTSD, depression, and anxiety lessened. Lynn now works with REMAP Therapeutics and the Psychedelics & Pain Association to raise awareness about psilocybin's healing potential and continues advocating for ketamine therapy for veterans through the Ketamine Taskforce and Healing Our Heroes Florida.
